Happy Birthday Sean!

As soon as I checked out the new Idea Book & Catalog I knew that the new pennant punch would be one of the first things I ordered . I couldn't wait to create with it and I love how easy it makes a project look so good! One of my resolutions this new catalog year is to use up a lot of my designer series paper before I can buy more so this punch helps with that. This card is for a very special boy, my nephew Sean. Sean recently turned 13 and because he is so dear to me :-) I wanted to make a bright, fun card which would represent the bright, fun teen that he is. The punch is cool - it punches out two pieces and you layer them together. I used Stampin' Dimensionals to pop the top piece up and then used some white bakers twine to 'string' them together. The twine is hung in eyelets, which are retired. The "party this way" is from the stamp set with the same name, Party This Way. It has five stamps in total and one is a pennant stamp that coordinates with the pennant punch! I love when stamps have punches that work with them. I didn't use it on this card but will soon on another and will show it in the near future...watch for it ; )

Stamping 411

I think this is one of the first times I've done a Stampin 411 Sketch Challenge although I always check them out and love the sketches. This was fun for me because my friend, Lisa, came over to stamp and we made the card together. So what if it took us almost two hours! We talked a lot and had some interruptions, um I mean visits from my children which made it stretch a bit longer than it might have but we both loved the finished product and had a good time too! Here's the Stamping 411 sketch challenge:

Here's our card:
The card base is Elegant Eggplant. The next layer is Whisper White stamped with a retired background stamp, Bella Toile, using Wisteria Wonder ink. Lucky Limeade is the top layer and we ran it through the Big Shot using the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder. The flower stamp is sold as a single stamp in the catalog, Triple Treat Flower. The really cool thing about this stamp is that not only is it very affordable at $8.95, but you can punch it out using three different punches for a colorful, dimensional look. It uses the Fancy Flower Punch, the 5-Petal Flower Punch and the 1/2" Circle Punch. Then we put on some of the new 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon in Wisteria Wonder and sprinkled on some Adhesive back pearls for a little added touch. Sweet Sunday Sketch On Monday

I decided to use some of my free time this weekend trying my hand at a couple of card challenges. This card challenge is Sweet Sunday Sketch and although its a longer, more narrow card, I did the standard size so I could actually use it to send to someone in a standard envelope : ) The best part of this card is that I was able to use some paper scraps that I saved for future projects. I love when that happens! The Designer Series Paper (which is retired) needed some pink in it to match the colors I chose for the card so I just grabbed a Pretty In Pink marker and randomly colored in some of the circles. Custom DSP! How fun is that?! (We stampers get a tad excited about these things sometimes!)

Love & Sympathy

Sometimes theres a need for a sympathy card and although its a sad time for the recipient, it makes me feel much more satisfied to actually make one with my own hands then purchase one. I feel like I am doing just a little more for the person and a little piece of me is given with it. Unfortunately, I've had to make a bunch of them lately and although I have other stamps that could do the job, I really was struck by this new set in the current Idea Book & Catalog. Here's the card with the envelope that I also stamped.

I can't believe I've posted four days in a row! Can you stand it? I am going to try to keep it up or at least post a minimum of three times a week. I love the flower image on this card, but sadly it was retired. I will never part with it though because its one of my favorite stamps ever. This card combines some old products with the new. How stinkin' cute is this little pig from Button Buddies? Its the reason I fell in love with this stamp set to begin with. I just had to put a threaded button with a little bow for even more cuteness. How sweet as a baby card for either a boy or girl in blue, pink, etc. I made this as a friend card this time though. Or maybe I can give it to my daughter. The sentiment would fit for either. The outside says "so many smiles" and the inside says "begin with you". Those are from the stamp set, Petite Pairs. It has a pair of sayings that fit together. I got it on my first order because one can never have enough sentiments, especially ones that go together so nicely!

I love pink & green and this combo came easy to me after I decided which stamp set I was going to use. They are the preppy colors but since I'm not really preppy I think of it as bright and fresh like Spring which is TOMORROW finally! Does it not seem like it took longer than usual? Hope you are enjoying your day even if you aren't Irish. Besides - everyone is a little bit Irish on St. Paddy's Day! Today is my mom's day and will forever be in my mind & my family's. She was a sweet Irish & English girl who married my 100% Italian dad. Every year for as long as I could remember she would wear her green that day, her "Kiss Me I'm Irish" button and some shamrock earrings. We'd all enjoy corned beef, potatoes & carrots and her delish soda bread. Dad would always bring her green carnations home with him. I married a 100% Italian boy too but that doesn't stop us from carrying on the Irish tradition today. I just hope my dinner comes out half as tasty as my mom's. My kids are excited that I used their Mimi Mary's recipes. Hopefully she will be guiding me when I try my hand at the soda bread in a bit!

Yesterday was my father in law's 76th birthday. I needed to make his card in 5 minutes since Michael & the kids were ready to pile in the car to go to the family birthday party. The man loves brown - its his favorite color. Who's favorite color is BROWN?! LOL! I mean seriously, is it even really a color? Its the 'color' you get when you mix too many colors together. I've seen it many times when my kids were younger and made their masterpieces for us. Anyway, I needed to quickly throw together a masculine card. Thank goodness for the Big Shot and the textured impression embossing folders. Those little guys make everything look so good. I grabbed my three favorite shades of brown - Early Espresso, Chocolate Chip & Crumb Cake and did some stamping, gluing and voila! A manly, brown birthday card for my most cherished father in law.

He means everything to our family, especially his five grandchildren who adore him to pieces. Papa Phil is currently going through cancer treatments and with our love and prayers and his amazing strength, we will hopefully be celebrating many, many more birthdays with this beloved man. So Valentine's Day is over but we can always make cards for our loved ones! Who needs a specific holiday to inspire us, right?! I love the colors in this card and was pleased with the way it came out. This stamp set is one of the oldest ones in the Stampin' Up! catalog. I am not sure if its one of the original ones or not but I would bet on it. Its great for coloring with either markers or aqua painters, etc. I used markers this time because I wanted the color to be vibrant. I don't use this set enough but will have to remember to - it has a lot of cute stamps for the bed of the truck. Maybe you'll be seeing some more creations soon from me using it! So this little guy is surely one of Santa's famous reindeer! Hubby took the kids a couple of weeks ago to check him and his other buddies out while I did some Christmas shopping. The kids were thrilled but a little taken aback by the smell lol. The reindeer were feasting to try to fatten up for the big trip, or at least thats what I was told by the littles. And I believe them!

Enough about the reindeer....you probably want to see another amazing card that I've created, right?! ; ) Another blue theme....I love how soft it looks. Another very easy card to make and reproduce over and over.

I am soooo not ready for Christmas! It has truly snuck up on me this year. Thankfully my shopping is 95% finished. I still need to wrap, bake, make & mail our Christmas cards and so on. Owl Love You For 50 More Years.......

Yesterday we celebrated my in laws 50th wedding anniverary. Can you imagine 50 years with your spouse? I can only hope that Michael and I make it there. We have only 34 more years to go and that means I'll be 'x' years old. Did you seriously think I was going to reveal my age?! HA! I didn't think so! Anyway, they are a wonderful couple and still very much in love. They raised an amazing son so I love them even more for that. I used the owl punch for the first time as I made this card for them. I absolutely LOVE this punch! Its a must have as far as I'm concerned. There are so many possibilities with it. I plan to make different things with it to show you just what I mean. They loved it and so I was happy. Mission accomplished.

What's On Your Bucket List?

I recently got to check off something that was on my mental bucket list.....watch the sunrise! Last week my daughter and I watched it together as she got ready for school. I know I have seen parts of a sunrise before, but never from start to finish. It was glorious! It reminded me how much beauty God has given to us. I was inspired to actually put pen to paper and start writing out my bucket list. I'll share that some other day, as it is a short list right now and a work in progress! Today I will instead share a card that I made for my mother in law's birthday. She is the best mil in the world and like a second mother to me. Since my mom passed 8 years ago, she has been there for me like mine would have been. She is selfless, kind, spiritual, loving, gentle and takes such good care of everyone. I am the luckiest daughter in law ever! Ok, enough gushing....on to her card:

I love the hydrangea image from the "Because I Care" level 1 hostess set.

It was one of the first ones I 'had' to have from the catalog when it first came out. And how about those pearls? I am so excited that SU! sells them. They add so much extra beauty to a project and they are a great deal to boot!

Its been awhile since I've made something since my craft area is not ready. I've discovered how great the kitchen island is though and have recently taken it over! Where have I been?!

I can't believe how long its been since I last posted something. Actually, I can....life has been super hectic this summer. My family & I moved into our new home after two long years of hard work (on my hubs part). The move was not fun! Remind me never to even think about doing that again anytime soon. We are loving our home and slowly getting acclimated to our new town. I just started unpacking my craft supplies and am in the process of setting up my stampin' room! My first ever stampin' room, I might add! I even made a card yesterday and it felt so good to touch cardstock and stamps! Tim is so into sports, especially baseball, that I knew exactly what kind of card I would make for him this year. I love the little stick people in the All In The Family stamp set. You can pretty much make them look like anyone you know. (like adding some freckles!) The best part was that he loved his card. What a great kid!

Max would probably have preferred a Spider Man card from us but since SU! doesn't carry super hero stamps I had to come up with something a 7 year old might like. Needless to say, he hardly looked at it! That's ok though, I'll put it in safe keeping for him for when he is older and has better taste! Timothy turned 10 last week and it was a big deal for him (and this mom!). We are still celebrating since he had a fever the day we had his family party. In fact, in lieu of a party with friends he decided he'd rather go shopping for some fun things and then to dinner with just his parents. What a sweetheart :*)

Retiring Colors

For our club last week we used as many soon-to-be retired colors on our projects. In fact, I don't think I've ever used Green Galor or Pixie Pink! I had to open my packages of paper for the first time. I am kind of bummed because I really like then now! At least I have a stash to use and I can always buy more before they are gone. Tempting Turquoise

I am not sure how tempting turquoise is....maybe tantilizing or tremendous or some other "t" adjective would have worked better. However, it is a really pretty, bold blue and I love it combined with the black & white on this card. Its nice, bold & crisp..... maybe even tantilizing?

Ok, so like I said, I'm loving these mini cards! We made a bunch at one of my clubs and they were a big hit. Quick, easy, fun & pretty! This one used one of my fav Sale-a-bration stamp sets, Happy Moments. Really cute flowers that were stamped in Versamark onto Naturals White cardstock (which I like better than Whisper White because its heavier, thicker) and then we used sponges or cotton swabs to apply the Stampin' Pastels. Its fun watching the colors emerge. It gives a soft, muted image....pretty :)

I'm loving mini cards which are 3x3 and fit perfectly in Mini Square Envelopes (#107309 pg. 168). They are great cards to use with gift bags, presents, a bottle of wine or for sticking a gift card in. I am having so much fun making them because they take no time at all and give such satisfaction in creating something nice but quick! I especially enjoy using them when one of my children has a birthday party to go to and need one to go with a gift. Easy peasy!

Another hostess club creation and not a Jacki original, I'm sorry to say! I've been seeing cards like this on other blogs and just had to make one too. More new goodness from the Occasions Mini Catalog. Check out the inside of the card - the sentiment comes from a new stamp set, Well Scripted. Besides the fact that the lettering is very pretty, the cool thing about it is that it comes in wood-mount or clear-mount! I bought all the sets from the mini in clear-mount and I love love love them! So did my club ladies! Thank you SU! for offering them. The great thing about these clear-mount stamps is that its the same high quality rubber stamps from SU! but offered in a clear-mount option instead of just the wood-mount option. You've got to try them.

Last night we had our hostess club and for the first time we made a scrap page. It was a welcome change from just making cards. The best part was that we used some new goodies from the Occasions Mini catalog. The flowers were all made from the gorgeous new designer series paper, Sending Love and the flower centers were brads, including the new little beauties, Chocolate Chip Epoxy Brads. The pictures don't do justice to these products - especially the paper. Its glittery and thick. If you click on the image you can see the details better. The pretty border on the photo mat is the new Scallop Trim Border Punch that could be yours FREE from the Sale-A-Bration catalog when you spend $50!

Isn't the flower on the bottom corner so pretty? We used the Full Heart punch to create it (so smart, I know!). The new Pretty In Pink corduroy button is the center. Love those! Today I decided to participate in two challenges and combine them in one card. The challenges are from Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #51 and Curtain Call Color Challenge Act 12.

Razzleberry Color Embossing

I have been wanting to try my hand at color embossing after I saw how beautiful it looked on fellow SUO Blogger #8, PonyGirl40Stamps blog. Basically it is inking up the embossing folder before running your cardstock through the Big Shot. It gives a soft shaded or worn look that really is so pretty. It took me a couple of tries to get it right but it really is simple. I made this card for my wonderful mil's birthday. She's a fellow purple lover so I enjoyed using these colors. The kissing technique was also used on the Medallion background stamp. I inked it up in Pale Plum and then inked up the Bella Toile background stamp in Rich Razzleberry. I then stamped Bella Toile on top of the Medallion stamp and then stamped it on Whisper White card stock. Whew! Got all that?! If you click on the image you will see the deets much better. I had a whole post for this card and its gone! Ugh! What can I say - I love this card - love this set (from a great current hostess set). I don't usually invest in Halloween stamps because its such a fleeting holiday and not one that I'm big on. I was really glad to see this in the set. In fact it can be used for Autum themes too, right? Here are the details: stamped in Black Stazon ink, used the Versamarker on the pumpkins and then sponged Stampin' Up! Pastels (chalks) to color them. Then added some Crystal Effects and dropped on a pair of googley eyes. We made this at our monthly stamp club and it was a lot of fun. Here are all the supplies used:

I have to admit I wasn't a big fan of the new In Colors until now. I'm liking the Crushed Curry more after using it for this Fall-themed card. I love the Designer Series Paper, Autumn Meadows, a ton too. It has turquoise in it which is different but looks so pretty. I also used the Color Spritzer Tool for the first time ever which is so fun. Spritzing the Naturals White card stock with the different colors in the Autumn Meadows paper helped create a custom look. I just wish Fall would stick around longer than it does!

I love the colors in this Designer Series Paper, Flocked Together. I used the Top Note die in my Big Shot and slapped it on some pretty Tempting Turqoise cardstock, added a ribbon, stamped the sentiment from Define Your Life and a couple of brads to match and voila! Simple & quick card. My favorite kind ; )

Lisa and I created a similiar card to this one during one of our stamping evenings recently. We had so much fun playing with her SU! stash and loved the results. I love using the Big Shot to make cards - you can mass produce so easily & quickly. This uses the Scallop Circle die and the Clear Circle die - they fit perfectly. I saw this card on the extremely talented Heather Summer's blog and knew that I had to try it out on my stamp club girls. I've had this stamp set for a year and never inked it up (for shame!). I emailed Heather and she kindly gave me her blessing to case her card for the club. (thank you Heather!) I think next time I would use a lighter ink instead of the versamark to get more of the shadow effect. I still like how the card came out though : )

Today I felt like scrapping and cranked out three pages! That's a lot for me but I guess it can go quicker once you get going. I usually scrap 12x12 but decided to try 8 1/2 x 11 with this picture of Max. I love this size! I guess I'm going to have to get some albums for it because I plan on doing more of them.

I embossed the chipboard letters with black craft ink and black embossing powder. It came out really thick and shiny...its easier to see in the picture below if you click on it. I've had the chipboard for at least a year and keep forgetting to use it! It gives a nice dimension to projects.

I purchased the Simply Scrappin' Kit called Christmas Jingle with the intention of making some pretty scrapbook pages and maybe show my club girls how great the SSKs are. Instead I felt inspired to make some cards the other day and before I knew it I had created 9 super easy cards with tons of the kit left to make many more and some pages! I used some of my own stuff on hand like a rhinestone brad, a scrap of ribbon, glitter or some embossing with the Big Shot. Other than that, everything you see is from the kit. I love it! They look so elegant, if I may say so myself ; ) This is definitely the way to go if a.) you are short on time b.) you have to make a lot of cards and c.) you want beautiful cards (or pages) without much effort. Last night was our August Hostess Club and we made three cards. The second card has glitter on the butterflies and we used a Texturz plate with the Big Shot but it may be difficult to see in the picture. Click on it to enlarge it maybe to get a better look! I have to be fair when I'm scrapping or my kids let me know it! I made this page of my daughter using a retired Simply Scrappin' Kit called Crew Kids Girl. All I had to add was the photo, a couple of Rhinestone Brads and finish the photo mat with the Eyelet Border Punch. It came together easily and quickly. Gotta love those kits! Again I apologize for the dark pictures.

Scrapping My Boys

I haven't scrapped in a loooong time and decided

I just had to. After cranking out some pages I don't know what has kept me from it! The picture is from a few years ago but its one I love. The boys were just beginning to realize how great having a brother was.

I love the rub ons that I had in my stash to use because they are super easy to apply and add a nice touch. Unfortunately, they are retired as is most of the product I used : P

Color Inspiration Challenge #54

Sorry for the side view....I was trying to capture the checkerboard texture on the base of the card. I used my friend Lisa's Big Shot die cut machine with the Texturz plate - it was so fun & easy. I'm impatiently waiting for my own Big Shot to be delivered any day now. Once you use it you can't imagine crafting without it!

Anyway, I love KW's CI Challenges but don't participate in them enough. I definitely would not have put these colors together on my own and I'm not sure I like them even now lol. Still, it got me to sit down and make a Father's Day card for my dad who is a golfer. I knew I had to get this stamp set when I saw it in the Occasions Mini catalog. Not only did it have the golfer dude but also a lawn mower which is also perfect since my dad was a landscaper for many years. Oh - fyi.....the mini catalog products are only available for purchase until June 30th.

My son, Timothy, celebrated his 9th birthday. He loves all sports but basketball is his newest passion.

He only requested one present this year: a basketball hoop. Those bad boys aren't cheap! But he deserved it and has already played enough to make it worth the price.

This card came very easy to me because I knew I wanted to use the All In The Family stamp set for Tim's card. The boy stamp kind of reminds me of him! Add the basketball and we got our card!

was made by Grace, 10 years old. Last but not least, the red card was made by Max, 6 years old. He gave it to his Daddy as you can read on the inside of his card. They all were very good students and really didn't need much direction at all. It just goes to show that stamping is fun for all ages!

A Tribute to the Greatest Mother, Mary Elizabeth Cardis DiBella

The woman who I called Mom holding the precious baby girl who made me a mom. Although my mom isn't here physically, she is with me in my heart and on my mind every single day. I think of her several times a day. I wonder what she would say in certain situations, what advice she would offer. I think of how she would laugh at my kids and their cute antics. I think of what it would be like if she was here, enjoying being a grandmother to all her adorable grandchildren. I miss her beauty, her wisdom, her incredible faith. I miss her. No other person can replace her, as there was and is no one like her. I strive to be the woman she was and I have very big shoes to fill. I fall short of it very often but at least I have her incredible example to emulate. My daughter, Grace, in the above photo reminds me of her. Not in looks but in spirit. Mom was with me through my journey to be a mother, which was no easy road. Michael and I lost two babies to stillbirth. Grace was truly our miracle, born 8 weeks early. My parents and Michael's parents were the only family besides us who were allowed in the NICU. The four of them were our support and took our places to be with Grace when I needed to rest or Michael was at work. Six long weeks later, Grace came home. Fifteen months later, after a perfect pregnancy, we welcomed Timothy into the world and then three years after that, Max, our final child. Max came a year after Mom died. He looks just like her which is an incredible gift in my eyes. Today is one of the most important days for me....as a daughter, remembering a beloved mother, and also for the children I have been so blessed with. It is also a day for me to honor my beautiful mother-in-law, Celeste. She truly is a second mother to me. She, like my mom, is full of love, kindness, wisdom and beauty inside and out. Its natural and an honor to call her Mom too. To be so fortunate to have two such women in my life is a treasure. I thank the Lord for the family He has given me.

I miss you immensely Mom but I know that you are truly happy in our Father's Heavenly Kingdom enjoying all your angel grandchildren and loved ones who have also gone home. I look forward to when we will all be together again. Thank you for showing me your unconditional love while you were here with us.

Springy Club Cards

These are the two cards we made at April's Stamp Club. I was thinking "Mother's Day" when I made them but they are so perfect for Spring too. I love monotone colors....its simplistic but elegant. You can click on the photos to enlarge them and see the details more clearly.

I got my inspiration for this card from one of my favorite blogs, This n' That. Gretchen Clark make the prettiest cards. I love everything she does.

I L-O-V-E the Filigree Brads. They are so pretty and add so much to a project.

I used the new Scallop Oval Punch and the Large Oval Punch for the sentiment. Love how they nest....I want more sizes now! Hopefully SU! will offer them someday soon. March Featured Project

Every month Stampin' Up! features a project for us to make and use for demonstrations and inspiration. I love this month's card mainly because of the butterflies. I am so ready for Spring weather to really be here for good! This card is also super easy to make but doesn't look like it was....my kind of card!

Here 's the info on making it if you'd like to recreate it:

Supplies

Stamps: Great Friend (Occasions Mini Catalog)

Paper: Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss & Whisper White

Ink: Basic Gray, Baja Breeze & Kiwi Kiss

Accessories: Stampin' Dimensionals, Summer Love Rub-Ons (Occasions Mini Catalog)

Instructions:

Apply flower rub-on to Baja Breeze card stock using wooden stick included with rub-ons assortment. Adhere to Kiwi Kiss card.
Stamp "Thank You" in Basic Gray ink on Whisper White card stock. Apply leaf rub-on to Whisper White card stock. Adhere to card.
Stamp butterfly image in Baja Breeze ink on separate Whisper White card stock. Trim closely. Adhere to card using Stampin' Dimensionals.
Repeat step 3 using Basic Gray ink and Kiwi Kiss ink.
